Hi Everyone,

I live in Belknap County NH and a month or two ago Belknap County Dispatch, who dispatches local small towns, changed frequency but I can't find them. Anyone know? I assume they went digital. I have
a digital scanner and have been searching the band with no luck.

Thanks!
Ron

I checked scannewengland.net and they are showing Belknap county sheriffs as follows:

154.8300 MHz PL 136.5 Hz

Powerful transmitter based atop Mt. Belknap at the south end of Lake Winnespesaukee

NOTE: P25 Digital has been noticed on some Mobile Transmissions, but no Base as of yet

I'm not sure how current this info is but my guess would be they operate in mixed mode on a freq of 154.83.

Thanks

Thanks Asmitty. 154.83 is what I've been picking them up on for years. Then all of a sudden for the last month, they were gone. But as of the other night, they're back. Very strange, possibly a test run of a new system. I don't have PLs programmed in my scanner. Do some agencies use these, such that you
have to have the PL programmed else you won't receive them?

Thanks again,
Ron

As long as your scanner is set to no PL's (private line), you should hear everything on that frequency regardless of what the system has for a PL - thats even if they use one. When and if they operate in digital they will, most of the time, use a NAC code. This is known as a Network Access Code. Again, if you are in carrier squelch mode on your scanner (no PL's programmed like you have said) you would hear everything on the frequency regardless of NAC or PL. Not sure what you are using for a Scanner but only the newer models even offer a NAC code filter so you can filter what you want to hear if in P25 mode if multiple agencies use the same freq.

Hope that helps.

Belknap was having some problems with their primary channel and they were using an alternate. BCSO-2 is 151.2500 PL 136.5. I think they've since switched back to their primary channel.

A couple of years ago they tried to go 100% digital and found out rather quickly that they do not have the infrastructure to get reliable coverage. They quickly switched back to analog. There are a few units in the field that insist on using P25 but most are analog. The NAC for BCSO-1 is 117.

Around here, most agencies have their own channels and do not share them. Assuming that you've never had any issue monitoring Belknap before you should be all set. Depending on where you are though, you may need to because of interference on that frequency. For example, in a lot of parts of Laconia, if you don't have a PL programmed into the radio or scanner you there is a birdie on the channel and the radio will get hung up on that channel and won't scan.

I have to totaly agree the frequency of 154.830 has always been that frequency since I can remember. I am a native of that County and was born & raised in Laconia my home town. best wishes & enjoy.
