• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

A review by Paul, a Slovakian operator whose videos include quite a lot of new gear. The NRC demo in first few minutes is VG.

FWIW, I’ve found it useful to follow some reviewers as one gains an idea of what they find important, and why.

Sounded to me exactly what I have had on multiple ham radios, although I will admit although I hate that sound that's neat they got to work like that with just one button push. Do you know, is there a video of that on AM anywhere or can you make one possibly? Thanks for sharing that.

Digi-Mic Road Test (how you’ll sound to others with NRC in TX). It’s muted compared to what I hear over my system (difference is even sharper than this).

Post in thread '2023 Best Mobile CB'
2023 Best Mobile CB

That thread was meant to be a good introduction to NRC radios. You’ll see reports by others. I recommend a read-thru. The excitement of this jump in tech is palpable.

For RX there are quite a few videos demonstrating the difference. Look for those that demonstrate both AM & SSB.

This one is closest in audio quality to how it sounds in my truck. Note that most of it is Skip.

I characterize NRC this way: Our now-obsolete Hi-Q radios received the distant TX, but were unable to filter it such that we could decipher what was being said.

These new radios have greater RX range, as well. The radius-distance is greater, and all that’s within that range is heard better by “them” and by us.

3-miles mobile while moving became 5-miles in the same moment, and all of it is substantially better.

I’ve ten years of hearing (and conversing) with men across AM-19 that those in traffic around me can’t hear at all. (See thread as recommended).

Let’s find the weather that’ll blow a mag mount off the roof.

Let’s find the weather that’ll blow an 18-wheeler over in front of you coming from the opposite direction.

Let’s find the weather that’ll blow down a truck stop or convenience store awning onto your car.

Let’s find the weather that just compromised your cell phone.

Welcome to The Great Plains!

Hadrians Wall
(US-83) isn’t entirely an analogy. The altitude and lack of cover or large stream valleys can make it treacherous.

Death toll up to two after fiery 7-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon in Chattanooga, TN.

The crash involved a semi truck and six other vehicles. Two cars caught fire after the wreck, and fire fighters reportedly prioritized rescuing the people trapped inside.

“ . . I travel IH-24 daily. It interchanges with IH-75 approx a half mile north of this wreck.

I am surprised this doesn't happen more often along this stretch and along IH-24 through Chattanooga.

The posted speed limits for trucks is 55-MPH and plenty are routinely doing above 70.

Not to mention that this is ALSO a construction zone, so the speed limit was 45mph.

The cars he ran into were sitting in traffic waiting to merge from 2 lanes to 1 lane accessing IH-24 WB. Traffic was stopped . . . .”

All that’s reported about big truck drivers is 9X worse with car drivers. Only the consequences differ.

Have ears to hear.

. . and if they’re backed up in this direction bypass the exit and come back to exit from another direction . . even as you lose time do you gain in experience, first, and knowledge of the area, second.

The local & regional men — regulars thru this area — some already have this. So be useful on-air to others that future day as you weren’t stupid enough today to sit in stopped traffic and used Citizen Band to reconnoiter.

I'm waiting to see how many deaths the driverless trucks cause in Texas.

I bet they won't even give you a radio check

I know this thread is "Best Mobile Radios"....

so I guess I shouldn't add this here... but people with no room for a CB in their vehicle, sadly, are going to buy a small radio........no matter what great advice is posted here ....

myself and others would do whatever it took to gets a great radio into their daily vehicle... and if that means removing the factory console and building one out of wood around a great SSB CB like the Radioddity QT-80 or QT-60 PRO then glueing matching carpet to the wooden console to make it all work and look good.. than that's what we do....

but for the guys that won't. I thought this was interesting..... if people are going to buy a little radio at least get one that can be modified to put out 8 watts and modulate up to 17 watts and has NRC like the Radioddity CS-47 or President Bill III

I just watched a YouTube video on doing the modification on the President Bill II ( no NRC on the Bill II )..... it dead keys 6 watts am and swings to 17 watts and dead keys 15 watts for FM... nice looking little radio so I went to price it and found they have a new model "PRESIDENT BILL III" now with NRC!!!!! ...the modification should be the same.

personally I would buy the Radioddity CS-47 to get 7 watts dead key on AM swings to 17 watts and 15 watts on FM and it has NRC ...it is also smaller than the president bill and can be placed under the seat with all controls on the microphone.... all for $75 bucks!!!!... but I admit President makes some GREAT equipment

truly an amazing time to be in the CB market.... anything is possible today!
