• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have 2 BK KNG P800s I'm using in Non-affiliate scan mode to scan some local 700/800mhz systems here in the NE US.

First off, is there a way to allow the unit to scan more than 16 channels at once?

Also, is there a way to program in a "Wildcard" to a given scanlist in order to test a new system coming online?

Thirdly (and unfortunately I may already know the answer) is there a way to program in a Motorola Smartzone system into a KNG-P800? And I don't mean to just scan the voice frequencies as conventional channels.

Thank you in advance, any help is appreciated.

If you want to listen to ALL the TG on one channel only enter a 0(zero) in the talk group setting. that will let the radio receive all the TG in the system. I learned that trick 4 yrs ago when I had my TP9400. As for monitoring more then 16 channels at once , nope and you can not mix conventional and trunked systems together to monitor as well.

So for anyone who is curious, yes, programming TGID 0 does work as a wildcard. Now I have to figure out if the programming will allow the radio to display a TGID in this mode, and if nuisance delete is possible in this mode.

It will display the talk group. As long as you have the alt or primary line set to talk group.

I am not sure about nuisance delete

Thank you. I'll report back about nuisance delete. Of note, the system I listen to has a lot of encryption and i did not hear any scrambling in the 30 minutes or so I monitored this system in Wildcard mode.

The radio mutes ENC without a key by default.

Sometimes though, you may see the Ø briefly and a quick garble.
