These frqs are for Mountain Tops in Socal, so if no one else posts specific info you could start with these:

166.3750

Are those feq. used in Glamis or are general feqs? I will be going out there tonight and was wondering if they have a special event tactical feq they use on busy weekends.

I've seen reference to additional frequencies that might be used, those being simplex tacticals. The website FreqofNature has a list with quite a few shown. I'm not sure of the validity of their listing or if it is very current as I don't live in southern California, where the BLM California Desert District is located.

I get the impression that after the 2005 narrowbanding by the federal government, a lot of tactical frequencies were added to federal agency radios that we don't have much knowledge of. I get that impression by reading between the lines of conversations I've had with former co-workers in law enforcement and by their sketchy explanations of why their rigs have an antenna on them I can't account for. Must be real secret squirrel stuff if they won't even give me an answer with general information. Then again I might just have too much imagination and am reading things in, that aren't really there. How does the old saying go "the fact that you don't appear to be paranoid confirms to me that you are just part of the conspiracy against me?"

BLM areas where the dirt bikes run are most heavily used on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Might want to add FRS/GMRS to your list.

Also look into the San Diego County RCS system - SDSO and Imperial County SO do law enforcement in the area as well and will often use the "LE East Tacs" from San Diego County as well as Imperial County tacs. The State Parks people and BLM people have RCS radios and can be heard working with the local Sheriff Depts.

Mercy Air flies a LOT to that area for various ATV accidents and can be heard on the RCS system. The Ocotillo Wells FD will use Inland Admin to chat with Parks people and West Shores ambulances.

166.3750 and 166.7500 are what you'll want to listen to for BLM.

I was in Glamis for the Halloween weekend.

BLM rangers were using 169.7125 as their primary law enforcement channel for the dunes. They communicated with "San Bernardino" dispatch for calls, and the "L.E. IC" (Ranger station at Gecko and the 78) for additional resources, REACH dispatch and BLM medics,.

Was 169.7125 analog or digital? Any PL or NAC decoded? A few weeks ago I was scanning and stumbled across BLM Law net on 166.750 $455 and it was totally encrypted. I have not checked lately to see if they are still encoded. When I lived in San Diego I used to hear activity from the desert.

Analog, in the clear. I didn't think to decode the PL.

One reason for this may be that they 'imported' a LOT of help for the weekend. I spoke to a ranger from N. Cal, and I heard more than one ranger asking for clarification on vehicle registration returns, CA. Penal code sections and locations in the dunes saying "Sorry, I'm not a local..."
