Does anyone have a complete list of Blue Ridge Parkway radio channels with CTCSS/PL tones? I know the basic frequency (167.175) and I believe the mobiles transmit on 166.375. I am told they have different PL tones for each repeater. That is what I am trying to find.

Thanks,

John

You are correct on the frequencies and the input. Channel 1 is car to car, simplex, direct what ever you prefer and channels 2 thru 5 are the repeaters which start at Humpback Rocks as channel 2, next one south bound is channel 3, then 4, then 5, then back to channel 2 so forth and so one. They changed unit numbers a few years back due to restructuring. The 100's are park admin, the north district LE units begin in the 200's, from Roanoke to the NC line they are 300's, 400's are the next district, then 500 and 600 finish at Asheville. The maintenance people when assigned to a certain district, say district 3, seem to be the 350's and 360's. Most LE units are say 301, 302 district supervisors, 310, 311, 312 would be rangers in district 3 area or zone 1, 320 district 3 area 2, so forth and so on.
As for the PL tones on the input frequency (166.375) I think they are 110.9, 114.8, and 123.0 but I cannot confirm. I do know 103.5 is the tone for 167.175. Leaves will be changing soon, and you know what that means, heavy traffic.
Hope this helps,

The Colonial National Parkway (700 series for the Williamsburg area) are using the same frequencies. However, on 167.175, they are using a P25 digital format. They are also on the digital JC/YC/Wmbg system (TG 1254). The switch to P25 in this area may be a sign of things to come across all the National Park Service....or it could be to make the radios compatible with the local police system.

Are you sure you don't mean 167.1500 mhz. P25 repeater output instead of 167.1750 mhz.?

I stand corrected.....my memory is failing me (among other things). When I checked the scanner, I do have 167.150 MHz for the CNP.

It does appear that 114.8 is the correct tone for the Roanoke area. I also believe 103.5 is correct for talkaround. As to the others, I don't know.

I have heard they are getting new equipment which will probably be P25. Not sure when or if they will switch the system to P25 mode though.

Thanks for the replies.

Not that it really matters for the guys in VA, but just for everyone's reference, units 850,851,and 852 on the Parkway frequency are Park Rangers for Mt. Mitchell State Park (Yancey County,NC).

Are you sure about the unit numbers 850, 851, and 852? Last time I heard a radio tech, he was at the Humpback Rocks Repeater site (near the begining of the BRP), he was 851.

Yep, I'm 99% positive that those are the Park Rangers. The South Toe Vol. FD has 4 or 5 carryouts every year at Mount Mitchell and one of those 3 units is the coordinator between the County EOC and the Parkway EOC making sure the right resources are coming to assist.
