I am looking for some suggestions on purchasing a compact blue tooth adapter and speaker for my SDS 200. I trust that the adapter will be plugged into the front head phone Jack. Would these adapters affect the scanners sensitivity? The distance would be about 40 feet.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you , my target systems are on 700/800 P25P2.
Again... depends.
I'd postulate that a well designed Bluetooth transmitter would be better than a poorly designed one in this regard.
But, without putting them on a bench and looking with a sprectrum analyzer, it's hard to say.

Only one way to find out.

40 feet seems a bit too far for over-the-counter Bluetooth products. I run a Bluetooth mic on my amateur radio (ham) 2-way mobile radio and get 15-20 feet of range max.

Granted, the manufacturers of the mic are trying to get as much time using the mic before recharging and have kept the power consumption low (after all, normal use would only need 5-10 feet of range inside a vehicle. But I would check the specs of any Bluetooth product regarding range before buying it. I believe there are regulations regarding max output of Bluetooth devices also? 40 feet seems a bit much to expect. And since I haven’t researched the range of these devices I may be mistaken. Can anyone better advise on the range question? What are these devices advertising for max range?

Avantree oasis 2 is a pretty solid Bluetooth transmitter. Would fit your sds due to using a headphone jack cable.

Thanks. I however misjudged the distance . The actual distance is 25 feet. I am really looking for a compact plug in type . Would the supplied adapter fit the SDS 200 headphone Jack or would it needs an adapter ?

The device comes with an aux cable. The device itself can sit anywhere within reach of your radio as long as the jack cable is long enough. This device is verified to connect to Bluetooth speakers like JBL. It will do exactly what you want. The range is pretty good last time I checked.

So yes. It will work with your sds since it's an aux cable and those are small enough to fit inside the sds 100 headphone jack.

Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B7J4JJSH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I bought one of these and love it. It's rechargeable or you can power it from either usb port on the sds200. I have it plugged into the headphone jack via a ground loop connector. I have no problem receiving it to about 35' using a bluetooth earphone thru a couple of walls.

Thanks, Is connecting to ground loop connector needed? Just don't want to attach multiple devices if connecting the BT transmitter directly suffice. What would be the negative effect of direct connection?

If your just running the BT device on it's battery you shouldn't need the ground loop isolater...
But if your going to use a USB port on the the scanner to also charge/run the BT adapter, you more than likely will need the isolater...

Even if you charge from a different source you will probably need the isolater... if it's plugged into the headphone jack while charging/running it...

Thanks, that answers my question. I will only be using the BT transmitter occasionally and unplug to charge the unit.
