• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

FWIW my G5 performed flawlessly with the Rockrock BT adapter and JBL Flip speaker prior to the two most recent firmware updates. I confirmed it by reverting back - no beeps at the beginning of transmissions. I would have left it but that was before they fixed the priority interruption when the priority box wasn't checked problem.

That gives me some hope. I bought one of those Rockroc adapters recently based on an old post of yours, but was disappointed to find that it too had the beeping problem. I liked the Rockroc though. It would be the perfect solution for getting audio from my G5 into my car stereo via the AUX jack. But for now it's just another beep monster. Let's hope they address this in the next firmware.

My G4 has these annoying beeps, with my Plantronics headset. I seem to be missing short transmissions, or the beginning of longer ones.

I wanted to test with a BT speaker I have, but I just found out that is BT 4.0, which seems to be incompatible. (It does not show, when doing a device search, for pairing.)

You have to look for a device with a BT 2.1 protocol. No guarantees it will have clean audio, but at least it should pair up. I did some research on BT and found out that 2.1 is 10 year old protocol released in 2007. That's nice to have in a brand new device, NOT.

I am looking forward to an improvement on this, too.

I bought my pager in April, '16. It had the FW prior tp R11J. I experimented with quite a few different BT receiver's. Some had beeps and some did not. No FW upgrade has effected the behavior of a particular BT device. This is of course just my experience. The older BT's were primarily set up for hands free cell use and the beeps could almost make sense. Since we cant pair with anything close to a BT 4.0, we'll never really know how well it might work.

The day after I got my G5 I went out and bought BT ear buds only to find out the hard way about the beep problem.
My girlfriends desk is next to mine and she doesn't like to hear the pager audio. All the other scanners I use have headphone jacks so it was never an issue, but those scanners are hopeless on P25. I hope Unication fixes the beeps.

I see there is a speaker jack on the back of the Unication charger base. Will docking the G5 into the charger and listening with wired headphones work good for private listening?
