Reportedly, it was all a misunderstanding.
The air conditioning on the eastbound Greyhound bus was not working and a passenger commented to another passenger that it was "hot enough to blow up the bus". A third passenger misunderstood the conversation, thought they had overheard a bom threat, and told the driver. The driver stopped the bus on I-70 near Lyndhurst Dr, authorities were notified, traffic on the highway was stopped, and a bomb investigation ensued.
Nothing was found except for one passenger carrying some marijuana who was arrested. The bus and the rest of the passengers continued on to the bus station in downtown Indianapolis.
