Arrest Made
A Boulder man was shot and killed Monday night after he tried to sell his car over the Internet and police arrested a suspect in the case less than 18 hours later.
Police were called at about 9 p.m. to the 3200 block of Carbon Place, where the 44-year-old man was found shot to death in the street. A neighbor said it appeared the vicitm was shot in the head.
Police said the man's 2003 Porsche was missing when they arrived. They later found it parked at the Holiday Inn Express at Lee Hill Road and Broadway Street.
The man who was shot to death has not been officially identified. The slaying is believed to be the first homicide in the city of Boulder since 2002.
Police were looking for two men in connection with the shooting who posed as prospective buyers for the car.
Denver police SWAT units arrested a suspect in the case in southeast Denver on Tuesday afternoon. He was not immediately identified but Boulder police confirmed the Denver suspect is connected to the fatal Boulder shooting.
Earlier, police said one carjacker used the name "Mark." He was described as a white male in his 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with dark brown hair parted on the side. He had a tattoo on the back of his neck, which appeared to be green and orange and may say "Irish." He was wearing a cream-colored crew neck sweatshirt, blue jeans, and “Hugo Brown” shoes.
The second carjacker was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with a skinny build. He had slight beard growth. He was wearing a black Denver Broncos jacket with the logo on the left breast, blue jeans with beige lettering on the back pockets, and lightweight hiking boots. The man used the name "Alfredo."
