Breakaway earphone

I was helping my sister with her new Macbook and was impressed with the magnetic breakaway power-cord. Yank on the cord and it just pops free without damaging the laptop or cord. My first thought was "damn, if my scanner had one of those, it would have saved me a bunch of downtime and repair".

Today I decided to search on Google and it turns out that someone was inspired by the Apple connector and made an adapter for headphone jacks. It's not magnetic but it is the same basic breakaway idea:

Or it could cause repair, I've had mine danlge a couple of times from the earphone cord.

That is really pretty cool!

The inventive mind of the average PRC Prison Inmate never ceases to amaze me. Thank god everything creative is illegal in the PRC- or their technology would cost as much as ours does!
