Hi All, I have a Uniden BC 895xlt with a cord on the line out. It is hooked to line in input on the sound board controlled by a Realtek HD audio controller. I am broadcasting just fine as I can squelch and hear it via a handheld device monitoring my feed. The problem is I am also broadcasting everything I put out to the speakers. So ..... if I listen to Bob and Tom or itunes music I broadcast that also. I have tried different settings on the audio controller such as muting playback but it also mutes the speaker output. Any ideas?

Thanks!!!

It sounds like you need to go into the Recording section of the Windows Mixer and mute some of the channels.

On Windows XP you can do that by double-clicking on the speaker icon in the system tray (down where the clock is), then select Properties from the Options menu, then select Recording, then select all of the "volume controls" shown in the white box below, after you do that, click on OK. Next, make sure only the Line In or Microphone input is selected. If you see Mute checkboxes, make sure all of the channels are muted except for the channel the scanner audio is coming in on.

I'm not sure what the exact steps are on Windows 7 and Vista but the same thing should be possible.

Gordon,
Thanks for the reply but when I mute out everything then I am unable to listen to anything through the speakers. I don't know maybe I have a setting wrong but I can't seem to figure it out.

You probably need a full-duplex sound card, which most aren't.
