It may not seem like a big deal to you or have a big outcome in your case.

But in the case of emergency services having to decide whether digital/encrypted radio is a benefit to them. This case certainly may have an effect or impact on there decisions.

Therefore putting the general public at an absent minded knowledge of what really goes on in there communities without being able to listen to there local emergency services.

Now if you heard on the scanner that there was an accident on the 401 and you were driving out there and listening, I don't think anyone would have a problem with you relaying the info via a CB to other travellers on the highway up ahead or behind you notifiying them that there was a traffic jam up ahead. Does anyone disagree with this statement?

But I think what you did is in everyones minds as just plain wrong and dumb.

I'm sure this will be closed shortly, however, I do think that we must remember to not let something like this incident to get in the way of our hobby. The law has spoken.

I just dont understand why the dude pulled over and put his hood up? Was he expecting something from the guys in the pickup? Ah well..

Guys, let keep the posts civil.

The posting of images in this thread does not add anything to the discussion. If I see anymore, I will delete them.

If you have something constructive to add to the debate without insulting anybody then go ahead.

This thread was originally locked by an unknown person for unknown reasons. Until I hear why, I have unlocked it.

Well, adding my 2 cents worth here isn't going to make much of a difference now...thanks Shaun for summing it all up nicely (?) in the other thread.

Millsdogg or whatever your name is, I don't know why you're surprised that people are becoming hostile with you around these parts. We assumed you were legit; that is you weren't using information here for illegal activities. Of course, I think some people also had the impression you were a few bricks short of a load, but that's neither here nor there now...you've basically proved that point.

Anyway, hopefully this won't change the helpful nature of RR.com denizens. One bad apple does not the whole load make, in my opinion. If we're lucky this will also be the attitude of Canada's (and US) police chiefs...people like Millsdogg are the exception to the rule as far as scanner monitoring and intelligence are concerned. Hey, maybe I'm an optimist after all!

We likely won't have to worry much about our friend Millsdogg over the next few years...he's certainly set a precident and you can be sure the local OPP and PD are gonna be all over him if he so much as sneezes the wrong way!

30 Days In Jail

City man jailed for attempting to obstruct police

By JACK WALKER

Staff Writer

A 20-year-old city man who tipped off two suspects about an
impending drug takedown was sentenced Friday to 30 days in jail for
attempting to obstruct police.

"I am satisfied this was more stupid than malevolent act, but it
was a significant act that calls for a period of incarceration," said
Ontario Court Justice Charles Anderson in sentencing Cory Mills. "You've
got to get it through your head that you can't behave in this way."

Anderson said everyone in the community, including police, have
the right go about their lawful activities without interference from
others, a lesson the accused hasn't learned.

Mills, of Apt. 14, 13 Glenn Wood Place, had earlier been
convicted of attempting to obstruct members of the Brockville Police
Service by informing the suspects they were under surveillance, thereby
putting the officers' safety at risk and jeopardizing the investigation.

The accused was listening to his police scanner last March 26
when he heard the OPP request the assistance of city police in keeping
watch on a silver Ford pickup from Quebec after it pulled off the 401
and made a quick stop at the 1000 Islands Mall.

The drug unit had been following the vehicle occupied by two
motorcycle gang members and OPP Constable Drew Knox had been instructed
to stop and search the truck.

When the silver pickup returned to the 401 so did Mills in a
green Civic driven by his girlfriend. Knox and Constable George Dickie
of the Brockville police followed behind.

At one point, the Civic caught up to the pickup. Mills rolled
down his window and warned the driver the cops were in pursuit and that
he was going to be pulled over.

Shortly after, the vehicle was safely stopped. No drugs were
found but police located a loaded handgun in the back of truck. During
the search Dickie spotted the green Civic, stopped on the other side of
the highway with the hood up and Mills looking into the engine
compartment.

Anderson said Mills had a history of not getting along with
police but that the best way to avoid contact was to stay away from
them.

"In our society, that is not a tricky thing to do," he said.
"All one has to do is abide by the minimum standard of conduct set out
in the criminal code."

Lawyer Rob Barr conceded his client had developed "an
irreverence bordering on mild resentment toward our local constabulary"
but said there was no suggestion he wanted to see anyone hurt as a
result of his actions.

He argued for a conditional sentence, noting Mills suffers from
acute anxiety and has other health issues.

Assistant Crown attorney Alan Findlay recommended a four- to
six-month jail term, saying Mills seems to believe "the police are there
for his entertainment."

When arrested on an earlier prowling at night charge, Mills was
carrying a list of names of members of the Brockville Police Service
along with their badge numbers, he said.

By warning the suspected drug dealers, Mills potentially put the
officers' lives at risk.

"Stopping vehicles is one of the most dangerous endeavours in
which they engage because you never who you are stopping or what's going
to happen," Findlay said.

The jail term will be followed by 18 months probation during
which Mills can't possess any device that would allow him to monitor
police activities. He's also not to contact police unless he has a
legitimate complaint.

Nice!

I feel bad having that opinion/emotion, but I can't help it. This guy doesn't just have issues - he has a whole lifetime subscription.

Maybe this will sort him out.

I agree. More time. The Police dont need this guy messing with him. They have a tough enough job without the Cory Mills' of the world.

What he does need is therapy/ someone to talk to.

What a solid citizen. This dork has major problems.

I fully expect him to get busted for using a scanner while on probation.

Re: 30 Days In Jail

Couldn't be him, from the last Brockville News update that was posted, sentencing was May 20th, which would mean, he shouldn't be back on the board until next week. If he comes back, which wouldn't make sense anyways seeing as he isn't allowed to have any access to any radio's. Why bother visiting the board for updates if he can't have a radio.

Perhaps the authorities would be watching for his typical posting's to further see if he in fact goes against his conditions.

Maybe it was his accomplises, if he has any. Perhaps its his girlfriend or maybe his crew (the Cory Mills crew, has a nice crimminal ring). I didnt think it was him, too many capitals and periods in his sentences.
Whomever it is it seems that there is a lot of people who really wanna hear the Brockville PD, must be something in the water.

Do you think he had to serve the full thirty days?

You think he's going to obey that order?

Take this as you will..

When I logged in tonight after coming home from work, a user on ICQ tried to get me to allow him to add me to his contact list. The only memorable part of the screen name was "millsdogg".

If I knew how to find a history of the people I've declined contacts with, I'd get his ICQ number, etc.

Funny you mention that, when I get home last night there was a request from a Millsdog for me to add him to my user list. Guess he is out of jail after all  . Wonder if contacting people on a forum dedicated to scanner listeners violates his terms? Here is his profile if you want to check him out, seems he makes his luv for da police known in htere 2.
