Bruce/Grey

Gents:
I was up on the Bruce Pen for the weekend.

I monitored Wiarton and D. Bay from our Ferndale base.
There was precious little activity for OPP Bruce Pen, but there are patches for Grey Co and South Bruce OPP so all is not lost.
I have a few questions if I may:
1) I heard some London N MOH activity, often enough the Paramedics mentioned switching to Tac5. I heard no patches on Tac 5 and ran my scanners in search mode in case they were using the listed Hospital T/G groups.
No action.
Is there anyone up there that can shed some light as to how I could hear patches? Most of the activity on London N was in Grey Co and in the southern reaches of Bruce Co, far enough from the Mid Pen.

If anyone up there is on this group, save $ and get a digital scanner. There is very little activity N of Wiarton esp of Tourist season.

You didn't hear the patch because none of the users that where involved in the patch where using your local tower. Being a smart zone system you will only hear traffic across your local tower if a user on that talkgroup is affiliated with the local tower.

Had an ambulance switched to TAC 5 on your local tower to eavesdrop you would have heard the patch.

Makes sense, the action was generally in the south grey and Bruce areas.
There are a lot of closer towers, not the ones I snagged up the 'Pen.

Eric, the best action in the area is on the Durham and Owen Sound sites, since they cover the more densely inhabited areas. Bear in mind where the hospitals are, too. GBRHS is in Owen Sound, so you'll hear patches on that site. Hanover and Walkerton have hospitals with ERs, so you'll hear patches on Durham and possibly Listowel or Glammis. Wiarton has an ER, so you'll hear patches on that site. North of Wiarton, however, there ain't much more than boats, beers and bugs.

Hope you stopped and spent money in Owen Sound, Eric! (I was down in Tara in the afternoon and in Owen Sound on Sunday, incidentally.)
