Just wondering. I know one of my 3A friends has a CB in his cruiser, but not sure of the rest of the troops.

I'd say the only cars that might have them are MCSAP. The policy regarding installing a CB is outdated and drawn out. If your buddy in 3A has one, it's not installed in the car, I know none of the cars up there have them hard wired

Troop: It is mounted next to his seat. It's nothing fancy. The antenna was professionally installed though. BTW: he was a 3Viper unit stationed in 3A.

I know a HAZMAT trooper that has a CB in his vehicle. He was just going to throw it in, but one of the COM guys helped him hard wire it.

Hi Troop, will they allow an amateur rig?

Maybe a handheld rig? Hah I know, just get a Maratrac and have it programed to 2m freqs in addition to local law/fire freqs!

He must have a new car or did it after I left the Troop, and there was only 4 of us on the VIPER team and we've all transferred to other areas. Sometimes I wish I had one, but i'd probably end up turning it off anyway......and I dont know about amateur radio....that's all I need is one more mic to keep track of!

Just curious, if channel 9 is supposed to be for emergencies on the citizens band, who monitors this channel if none of the police have them installed ?

Probably no one, I think it's been replaced with the cell phone, In 9 years i've only been told by a trucker once that he tried calling us on 9 but couldnt get us, so he used his cell phone.

Arapahoe Co. S/O still has CBs in their vehicles.

Which Arapahoe County Cars have you seen a cb in?

Well currently, any with the stout black antenna about 24" in length.

Also, within the last 10 years, there were 2 channels unofficially used by them for car to car and supv to supv. on CB
