Hello all. After almost two years of break-neck work and family changes including a move from North Phoenix, I finally have time to scan once again and want to unbox the base scanner and get the programming updated. I now find myself living in Buckeye (Verrado Specifically) and know that things have changed a good deal. Of course, I would like to monitor Buckeye, but can't seem to find which simulcast they are on, or if they are even on one so that I can get the frequencies in. Can anyone help me out there? Also, are they using the Estrella Mountain site (would seem borderline too far), or the White Tanks site?

The RR Database SEEMS to be a bit out of date if this is the case, unless I am a bit out of touch and missing something. It would seem logical that there is a White Tanks site for Buckeye, Peoria, Surprise, and El Mirage but I don't see one.

Any information that could be shared by west valley scanner buffs that could be shared to get this out of touch scanner buy back in the loop would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I was kind of wondering where you had gone off to, after reading your old post about using a yagi to receive Phoenix years ago that's what I did. Buckeye can be heard off of White tanks, simulcast G and B.

Simulcast G

Thanks. I'm glad to hear that yagi idea caught on, since it does really help.

Can you please give me a link to a page that displays simulcast G information? I keep hearing about it but don't see anything in the database.

Thanks.

I'd just go with White tanks, it seems to be one of the better sites. I can hear it loud and clear from my house in Mesa. Simulcast A might be, some PHX should come off of some of the other simulcasts. I was at a friends house awhile ago in Buckeye and set an actual PD radio next to my 106, they both had some trouble with receiving the simulcast A only talkgroups but they were still able to receive it. You could try the yagi idea if you can get a clear shot into Phoenix with it.

The majority of Buckeye PD traffic can also be hear on the Estrella IR. White Tanks has some Buckeve PD traffic but only when a Buckeve unit is logged onto that site.

In the desert someplace
Every now and then I pick up Buckeye from my house in north Tempe and at the time I only had Thompson Peak and South Scottsdale programmed. Currently I have White Tanks, too, but some things I can't pick up while at work in North-ish Scottsdale. We're kind of in a dead zone. I think the building is made out of a kryponite-like material to prevent Wi-Fi and radio towers. hahaha.

Even more questions now....

Which simulcast uses the white tanks site?

According to the wiki Simulcast G is at about 8600 West Peoria though I drove by that address and see no tower. Ideas?

To me, it would be logical for Simulcast G to come from the White Tanks site, is this actually the case?

I would be a bit surprised to get decent Phoenix PD reception from where I am at in Verrado (Buckeye). I am already planning a yagi to be aimed that the Southwest most site of simulcast a and I am pretty sure it will work. I will unfortunately have to go with an attic mount as people out here are far too snooty to allow such horrid things as antennas on roofs heheh. We shall see how the attic yagi works out and I'll update when I know.

Those are the control channels for White tanks.

Buckeye PD site permissions are

Simulcast B
Simulcast G
Estrella IR
White Tanks IR

White Tanks is Independent of Sys G and other Phx Systems. It repeats traffic on a TG only when there is a unit logged on to the site. You should be able to hear it in Verrado. Most of the time you will hear Buckeye PD, and Surprise, also a lot of Peoria Units on it. All of the FD K groupls are repeated on White Tanks. You might try Estrella Mtn IR, It is located up high next to a fire station in Good year. I hear it quite well in Surprise. Another site that I hear and you might try in your area is Outlet IR, It is located North of Phoenix in the Outlet shopping center South of Anthem. I hear it quite well in Surprise and it has a lot of Phoenix PD North area traffic on it.

If you have any older information, the old simulcast e (Glendale area and South of Glendale) had all it's towers absorbed into the larger simulcast g which also has more towers to cover Peoria, Surprise and El Mirage. White Tanks isn't one of the simulcast g sites as someone else noted earlier, it's a separate site all on it's own.

Thanks all.

Yes White Tanks carries 95% of Buckeye traffic, with a small amount I have noticed off of Estrella. All Surprise and Peoria traffic also comes off of White Tanks, though Peoria also runs it's traffic on Simulcast G as well. This strikes me as ODD, since the White Tanks TOWER over the valley floor and should have line of sight to anything in Peoria. So why on earth Peoria also uses Simulcast G I haven't a clue. I can see the tops of the White Tank towers from by rear bedroom window, and the Estrella towers from my master bedroom window, so as you might imagine they come in very well. Simulcast G is a bit weak but I get it. El Mirage, for whatever reason, uses Simulcast G exclusively and I always wonder where the Goodyear system is broadcast from though since the signal is "good" all over the valley but never "great" anywhere....but those are topics for another thread I suppose.
