I was playing with my SDS100 and BCD325P2 today, monitoring Busch Gardens DMR system. I had the 325 set to ID search and I found three talk groups not listed in the RR DB. I will not submit them as I could determine what their use was.

My main question is on two of the talk groups I did find. Both started with a lower case 'i'. One was i691 and the other i716. The 'i716' would alternately display "DSD" and "SRC". The third TG was 3005 (which falls in line with other groups used at Busch).

First, I am no DMR expert, though I've been scanning for a fair number of years. I do not recall having seen a talk group starting with a letter. Any help would certainly be appreciated.

This is known as a DMR private call. Basically one unit directly to another without being broadcast to other units
SRC = source radio ID
DST = destination radio ID

Scanners refer to them as I-Calls which is where you get the "I" from I suppose. I0 on Uniden gets you search for them for example.

Ghostwolf62,

It's been a long time no hear ....You like the other posters on the subject were correct functionally and technically. But some scanner manufacturers created a "new" name implying the I-CALL feature was something it created. Wrong!. Back then initially the correct name was "I-CALL". Very few radio systems I monitor have "I-CALL". Possibly other radio system may have the capability but don't use it.

Interesting that you mentioned adding "I0" to search which is a good idea and I will add it. I use three Uniden 537s and two Uniden 996XLTs using ARCXLTTPRO scanners and when there is an I-CALL it displays instantly the full beginning to end content. The audio is excellent on what I hear on I-CALL.

Two users I monitored years ago under their old radio system was two Hopewell EMS vehicles returning from a response one if them to be sure and stop at BK (Burger King) before returning. However, the main user in my monitoring area is the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Petersburg, VA. That location is not correct. The facility actually is located in Prince George Co. Why bother now changing the location?

LEH,

First for info the "i" is related to the I-CALL feature regardless of whatever DMR description is used, it basically still is "I-CALL".

I did a user extract for Busch Gardens from my W4UVV VA Frequency database for you. (Type "B" on my data base is DMR). In case there still is an analog listing, the PL is "131.8". I never attempted to log the DMR color codes as these frequencies previously were analog and converted to DMR operation and not within in my monitoring area.

My monitor's screen capture display photo was limited and did not allow displaying the last two frequencies on that database's total group. All of the total record listings therefore would not display on just one computer screen.

Please add the last two additional frequencies to the photo listings:
464.8125 mhz. WPKQ282
464.8875 mhz. WQMF286

Also all of the modes are "M" meaning they probably are low power HT's 5-8 watts of which I-CALL would be a perfect comm system for their comm needs.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

John:)
