buying new scanner

i have a bc785d now and its about obselete ,want to know if the PRO-163 willbe good enough tp pick up the agencies i lost with the change to viper. does it have to be digital .

well honestly why not drop a little extra money and go digital to be safe because not to far off the state will most likely be digital

...and if you're in Charlotte as your location indicates, Charlotte-Mecklenburg is slowly moving to an all digital P25 system. Reconrider is right on in his suggestion!

Gotta agree with the above forum members.
If your goal is to monitor public safety (pretty much anywhere in NC) buying an analog only scanner is a mistake. I know it is more of an investment now but most major
municipalities are moving to (or already operating on) p25 digital voice systems.
Go the distance and buy digital and save yourself frustration.

Ditto what the others have already posted. Uniden digital or GRE digital is certainly the way to go at this point, to keep from having to buy yet another scanner in the near future.
