If you buy a used scanner say a BCD536HP that already has DMR upgrade you must assume that scanner is registered on uniden. I read you can still register the scanner as one of your own. I assume I can then buy another key like NXDN and add that?

The key stays with the radio and can't be transferred to another radio. The radio now belongs to you and it doesn't matter who is registered with Uniden. Once you register the ESN then it is under your name including the DMR key. As simple as that. The previous owner doesn't have to do a thing.

On the safe side I when I have sold one's with the keys give the new owner the key in writing. And then I delete the scanner from my uniden profile.

I have heard of that before and I don't think you need to do that but what the heck... With the my Uniden website oh, why not. ;) ... you're just being conscientious!
