• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

A C3 MAESTRO Console is a computer dispatch console. It is relatively easy to hook up but there are a lot of other parts required. The dispatch console requires a CEC/IMC along with the proper cabling, controller card and associated audio card. It also requires an EAE (Enhanced Audio Enclosure) to route the audio. You would also require licenses for the IMC as well as the console licenses. Is what your looking at an NT or XP machine? I can guarantee that if your not sure what it is, you also don't realize the cost that will be associated with getting it up and running.

I would suggest you contact your network administrator to find out what all will need to be done and if such a trask is feasible. WCRadioGuy is right, it is an immense task to hook it up and getting it set up and working.

If you are referring to that black box list on ebay as a C3 console, that is only the EAE (Enhanced Audio Enclosure). It still requires a PC with M/A-COM's proprietary console software and an RS-422 or RS-232 and 2 4-wire audio links to the IMC. Even if you do have the software, it will not completely load until it is connected to the IMC. As someone else said the IMC has to have a controller card, an audio card and licensing.

The EAEs on eBay can do quite a lot of things, but the serial protocol is very complicated. It can mix and direct several audio sources such as mics, speakers aux in, internal tone generators. Inputs for footswitches, jack boxes and handsets. Digital I/Os, And several tone paging formats built-in, Motorolas, GE, Reach, 5/6, Plectron, etc. Several capabilities Ericsson never used. You would have to get the protocol info from M/A-Com.

You are going to need a dedicated Slot in the Host IMC. I would think unless you are a TECH on the System or a dispatch center you will not be able to connect. If you aren't in the same building or site you will need facilities to transport the data, select and unselect audio.
