I have two different base scanner antennas that are made by Radioshack.
Outdoor VHF-Hi/UHF Scanner Antenna
Outdoor VHF-Hi/UHF Scanner Antenna - RadioShack.com
and the other one
RadioShack® Outdoor Scanner/Ham Discone Antenna
RadioShack® Outdoor Scanner/Ham Discone Antenna - RadioShack.com

The cable I use is the RG-6u on both antennas. When the cable company came by to fix the cable of my t.v they by mistake cut both of my radio antennas from inside of my house and did not repair it. I call the cable company to have them repair it they came out that same day put on some f-connectors and a barrel(F-female on ends) to connected the cable. I was not receiving as I was use to. So I went to my local RS and brought myself a coaxial splicing kit for RG-6U cable now i'm receiving much better reception. I did this because my antennas are almost 10 years old and i'm scare of taking down the antennas to run new cable and have of the rods break-off.

Should I run new cable or just leave is as-is until I need to replace one or both antennas? The height of the antenna must is like from 20-30 feet from the ground up.

Wow you let them off easy but I suppose accidents happen. I suppose if you can stay objective and truly can say you are happy with your present reception, leave it be till new antenna time:)
IE if it aint broke no more don't break it:D

Two F connectors and a good F barrel adapter have very little loss below 1GHZ and you I'll not detect any change if they are installed properly. Look for compression type connectors and barrel adapters with blue dielectric, which are rated to 3GHz.

The cable center point was not set correctly it was only half way the compression fitting and it was loose. I took the compression fitting off with my hands. The cable to my tv where was correctly, the ones for the radios some where loose, or the center point was just sitting half way in the f connector. It did not cost me much to repair the cable. I also replace the F-connector in the end of the cable(was using an adapter F-BNC) with a BNC compression connector one it was easy to made if you have the tools.
