Hello everyone, I am super new to this and would love to start doing this as a hobby. I was wondering if anyone else in Calgary who scans now would like to chat? I would really like to know some common chatter frequencies in the area. I have found a few RCMP repeaters and a towing company but would love to hear things like the news media ect... I have a PRO-97 Scanner that is capable of 0-1300mhz. It is not digital but is a trunking scanner (Although I have no idea how to use the Motorola or Ericson's or lrt based part of it).

Does anyone know media channels or would like to chat VIA msn or E-mail.

Thanks

The stuff on that list is ancient. Fire is outdated and no longer in use (except voice alerts 418.4875/413.4875). "Calgary City Services Trunk" does not exist any more. Same with "Calgary EMS Trunk". Those media links are sketchy at best. I know I have a couple of 450.x freqs for Captain Kirk and such, and the other traffic helicopter (QR77/Q107/Country 105) is on one of the trunk systems.

I doubt any of that save the airport stuff is valid any more.

Yeah it hought that might be the case. the voice alerts is all i had on my bc350 non trunked scanner so i thought it could be of some help to him as well.. but apparently not haha!
the database on here is pretty much the best place to find what your lookin for now anyway correct?

At the risk of sounding like a salesman, yes, that's correct; I try to keep the database as current and accurate as possible (I'm the sole Alberta database admin). :)

Well i'm a little disappointed that I bought a non-digital radio now! :-( no police or clear ems for me. I have picked up some fire and medic 1 on the 800.XXXX range but there is so much digital noise that its sometimes had to listen to. I have found all RCMP repeaters and they work great. I am looking specifically for a few if someone could list them.

1. Media (newspaper, tv ect.. Chatter channels for whats going on in the city)
2. Helicopters (Traffic or News)
3. City bus or Taxi ( I found some towing companies that are fun to listen to but cant seem to find much more then that).

PS: anyone have any experience with the PRO-96 I am thinking about making that leap sooner then later, as it is digital. and APCO 25 capable.

Thanks again
