This was mostly for transmitting but also used it for scanning. I have a Cushcraft VHF beam, Hustler 40m Vertical setup with the Icom 706MkIIG

Nice and simple. How hard is it to set everything up? I see you are pulling power from the trailer, do you also have battery power?

Yes i am set up for Battery or Shore-power from the camp ground. I only took 15mins or so to set up pretty simple.

Gotta love it. I've seen a camo box like that somewhere, maybe wal-mart(ian) or maybe it was Dicks sporting goods. Wish I would have bought it. It's beast as my kids would say. Your setup looks great. So, is the clothes line really a stealth dipole??

That is a neat setup, I like it..I bet you would get alot of questions about the 2 meter beam, it looks like a tv antenna to a non ham...

Your VHF setup is an interesting oddity. It seems barely high enough to get directivity. Ground clutter would attenuate and scatter a lot of your vhf signal at such a low height. A beam lobe would help over come some of these losses. Do you have difficulty getting a low SWR being so low to the ground. Looks like an Amateur Radio Field day. I wonder did you ever think of using a tracking mount to work Satellite. Anyway wish I was there with you and I’d bring along my Jim Beam which works best close to the ground LOL.

This campsite was actually on the top of a hill and the beam actually stayed on top of the Camper but wasn't there when I took the picture. So it was about 15 feet off the ground. I have always wanted to try a beam loop though.
