Can a private ambulance service registered with the State of Ohio get a MARCS talkgroup and use MARCS as the company's primary communication?

Primarily the company does their own thing but has a back-up 911 contract with a city to give a medic when one is requested.

What is the operating costs?

Can't radios be received with grants from FEMA or DoHS?

There are many private EMS and similiar services using MARCS for full time communications. Reference the "Medical Transportation Talkgroups" list in the database for specific users:

You would do best to direct your question to the Ohio MARCS Yahoo Group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ohio_MARCS

There are a couple MARCS individuals on that list (State Office of IT and Ohio Department of Health) that would be able to answer specific questions regarding costs. Grant monies have been available and used by government users, not sure about private users. Those may need to pay for the price of the subscriber units as well as monthly access fees.

Dereck, kinda like EMT and run calls for Eaton? LOL

How are you all dispatched now? Nextel? We are looking for someone to dispatch for our search and rescue team, thought about the private sector like you guys to contract. It is very few calls a month.
