I don’t see why it would not work but here goes. I have a friend in another state that just purchased an SDS-200. He is having a hard time getting it up and running. My thought was to program what he wants to listen to in my 200 save it then mail him the card. He should be able to just pop in the card and start listening I think? Any feedback is grateful.

Sure can... It will just overwright your ESN and put his ESN on the card when he turns on the scanner...
Or you can do it on an external card reader...

You could just zip all the files you program on the card and email him the zip file. Have him un-zip the file and copy all the files to his sd card. I do that all the time for friends, saves the time it would take the snail mail to get to him.

Thats probably the best way to do it...
Then you have the profile settings etc etc,,,
One quick copy to his empty card and it's done...

Then make sure he reads the scanner back into Sentinel to save it...

Yes, and when my friends start pushing buttons or decide to "tweak" the programming and the scanner stops working.... I have them zip all the files and email them back to me so that I can advise them where the wheels came off.

About the only things to be mindful of are:
  1. There probably is a location difference if you are talking about mailing this. So be sure that the correct zip code is set by the end-user.
  2. If you customized the Startup/Boot up screen, such as with your name, it will appear on the new scanner too.
  3. Be sure to save your scanner programming files before starting on his. Then after doing his, you can reload yours.
  4. If you have a card reader, you can simply re-format new card, do a clear user data, then program as if the card was the scanner, eliminating your scanner from the loop (and potential for oops).
  5. If you use Dropbox, Google Drive or some file sharing, you may not even have to zip it. Plus if he does tweak things, you can look at what he's done and make the corrections.
All that said, this is almost exactly what ScannerMaster does with their programming service of sending a programmed SD card.
