depends on your setup. I'm out by MacArthur airport and with an outdoor antenna i can receive NYPD SOD, and FDNY Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx. Manhattan and Staten island is weather dependent somedays are better than others

From my location about 70 miles east of the city, using 450 mhz. and 800mhz yagis, I can receive just about every precinct and FDNY boros and most of the trunked systems. The only system I have trouble with is the new 700 mhz. DOITT system. I will have to upgrade to an SDS scanner eventually. But like hawkeye said, alot depends on your particular setup. Antennas, height, radios used, and your immediate RF environment will have the most to do with your situation.

Remember when buying antennas, spend more on the cable than the antenna. LMR400 at least LMR 600 is better!
