You are completely killing me with your absolutely pathethic quest to hear the most mundane radio trafic God ever invented!

Oh and P.S. just about everyone is using 900 WFM these days. "Come back now big chicken over."

Geez tweeker, settle down. Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean others won't like it.

Some of us like to listen to transmissions "just becasue they are there". What's wrong with that? Around here they use the headsets to talk between employies - funny stuff to listen to.

While listening to the McDonalds Dive-thru when ordering, I asked the punk-a55 kid to make sure my fries were hot. He told the other employies to put my fries in the freezer for a minute. I was stunned when he said that, so when i pulled to the window to pay, I told him NOT to put my fries in the freezer!!! The look on his face was PRICE-LESS!

For the next 15 minutes, they were all trying to figure how i knew what they were talking about..............
How did he know I said that?
Is he a manager from another store?
Is he spying on us?
Are we in trouble now?
I hope I don't get fired!

I guess listening to Pimple Puss down at Booger Fling can't be any worse than my listening to White Nose (the lifeguards) talking about who scored last night. Then again trying to receive fast food over the radio is like Peg Bundy trying to get a microwave oven to work like a Star Trek food replicator.

Yeah, I just had to say it. (;->)

not that i care to hear what people have to eat but i live less than a mile from Mc.d's burger king and some others and cant pick them up at all????? am i doing something wrong?? i found a list online of all drive thru frequencys and i've ran through all bands on my scanner.. nothing! The only local busness stuff i get is just a store or two looking for a price check. I have a lot of busnesses around me Mall, Lowes, walmart, everything a busy area would have and things are pretty quiet, just wondering if i missed something along the way????? i can get emergency services all the time when there not encrypted!

OK let me try to add something to this thread.....

These headsets are getting lower and lower powered. Back 20 years ago, I could pick-up 3 fast food places from OVER a mile. They were using 154.570 - 154.600 - 30.840 - 30.860. No problem picking these up back then, however as the years passed, I noticed that the range from these head-sets was less than a few blocks. I concluded these restraunts got new headsets that simply put out less power then their previous headsets.

I also have problems picking up Close-Call hits from almost all drive-thru's too.

I have researched the manufactures that make this type equipment, and have come up with the following list of frequencies.

Single L. Base 1 902.3000 (Single Lane Base 1 [employies])
Single L. TX 1 926.3000 (Single Lane Transmit [cars])

Like the one I heard at a "clownish Irishesque" hamburger franchise:

"What are you doing?"

"Making some secret sauce."

"What are you using?"

"Floor sweepings, mop squeezings."

I didn't eat there for quite some time.

Not especially but the employee-to-employee conversations can be pretty interesting. Everything from the "special treatment" of customer orders, the arguments and fights between employees, the verbal abuse of customers behind their backs, the various little soap opera dramas that go along with some jobs that are especially prevalent in food service industry for some weird reason even at the bottom levels.

It can be quite entertaining.

Then there is just the pure radio geek answer. It is a radio signal and it is there. The same reason we try to monitor rain gage or river level gage telemetry. It's a transmitter that is transmitting in our area thus it needs to be intercepted.

People find all sorts of different things in our field entertaining. Some people eat and sleep railroads and rail scanning. Other than scanning the bands occasionally just to see what is there I find train traffic boring. I happen to eat and sleep military air. Others find that aspect of the field painfully dull and esoteric.

Finding the unusual and uncommon things to monitor makes things interesting. After all, you need something to occupy your time while you're waiting to hear another plate being run or another call being to the same address for yet another domestic. Why not find the local drive thru or an unknown low power factory paging system.

WOW that is for SHORE - exp.. kids who work @ those places also i heard that they were gunna get wasted after there shifft was over & your rite on when you say that they remark about the people behind there backs what i heard on my scanner it makes me steer away from those places because they can make you sick big time

It can be quite entertaining.

I remember sitting in the drive thru at Hungry Jacks (our version of Burger King) and heard two girls making fun of other staff working there, it actually got rather "sexual" and explicit. When I got to the window to collect the food and seen the girl wearing her headset, I was so tempted to say something to her to let her know I was listening to her inappropriate rambles. In any case as soon as I left the drive thru it dropped out.

35.02 is one of the many we have down here in AU as I heard it at McDonalds months back.

To get back to the current question on this 2 year old thread; no, you cannot monitor spread spectrum transmissions with a scanner. Now, the question becomes, are they really using spread spectrum technology at a fast food joint?

You are completely killing me with your absolutely pathethic quest to hear the most mundane radio trafic God ever invented!

Oh and P.S. just about everyone is using 900 WFM these days. "Come back now big chicken over."

Oh now, really? You're telling us we're pathetic because we like to listen to forms of radio that might have a little intrigue...compared to everyday run-of-the-mill police calls? YOU are the one who admits to having worked at a fast food joint,so now who's really pathetic here "tweekerboob"???!!!
Surely,you jest?lololol!!
You should know this hobby holds a lot of mystery for people here that didn't know there are so many kinds of radio! When I was a kid, learning that radio went way beyond my clockradio was like the "gateway" to a sci-fi enthusiast! When I first started in this hobby EVERYTHING had tubes and crystals! It's not at all about wanting to hear mundane things,ok? It's all about hearing something new and different!!! Ok,i'm through raising hell. ......NEXT?

Obviously, TweakerBob has been heard over a scanner. Otherwise he wouldn't take such offense to those of us who like a reallllly good chuckle at the expense of those who reallly don't have a clue;)) By the way,
Thanks XTS3000 for the newer freqs!

Now we have people criticizing ancient posts. Who really needs to get a life?

I am closing this thread because it is obvious that some users have nothing better to do than troll through old posts so they can complain about what they read.
