Trying to program Carlsbad FD into my scanner, however, I only see an Admin, and training talkgroup. So, can anyone give me dispatch, and Tac channel info for them. I did some searching, but I didn't have any luck. I'd appreciate the help.

Northcom dispatches for Carlsbad, San Marcos, Escondido, Del Mar, Oceanside, Encinitas, Vista, Solana Beach, Valley Center, San Pasqual, Rancho Santa Fe, Rincon, Pauma, Pala. Calfire also dispatches calls.

Cool! Thanks for that. Can that list of talkgroups be narrowed down, specific to Carlsbad?

I'm an outsider and don't know much, but looking at the list of talkgroups I only see one that mentions dispatch. If you focus on that one, often times the other talkgroups, such as a command and tactical for a specific incident, are is announced along with the dispatch. That is true for many of the departments and agencies I listen to. Some departments don't do it this way and might only show those assignments on a mobile data terminal screen. However, most departments voice everything that will show up on a MDT, except for the entire 911 conversation, the call back number, the name of the reporting party and perhaps a few other things I've forgotten.

This may or may not help. If I traveled down there, this is how I would start.

3A for Dispatch, 3B for Admin (meh), 3C for medical aids and lower priority stuff, and 3E for bigger incidents, structure fires etc. 3C and 3E are the command channels for the west side, Vista and San Marcos respond on 3I and 3K, and east of the I-15 they use the 4's.

Actually, yes. Most structure fires there (AND the rest of the coastal area for NorthCom) will be on 3E/F.
Sometimes they are on other channels, not often.

On the east side (San Marcos, Vista, Fallbrook), they're usually on 3I/J/K.

Working structure fire on 3C the other night...I thought that was a bit odd.

They do, but there are some parts of Escondido that are unincorporated and covered by Northcomm.

Medical Priority Dispatch System. Corresponds to level of response based on triage. Newly implemented.

"Any idea what is the difference in the amount and type of equipment?" Can't answer that one, but a brief Google search [remember Google is your friend!] I leaned that BLS is "basic life support", and ALS is advanced life support. Code 2 is an immediate response and Code 3 is same but lights and siren. You know, if you can get a few people together, you can arrange a visit to the Carlsbad P.D., a guided tour. Or just drop into your local FD station and talk to one of the fire professionals...they don't bite.
