We just heard robot dispatch on CCFD for the first time today. Assuming this is partially in preparation for future P25 / other radio system upgrades, but interesting to hear. Also sounds like 2 Tones may be a thing of the past over the air.. Maybe IP based paging in the stations now? Either way, can't find much information about it, and curious what system they're using for it now.

Hope someone has some info, cool to hear some new tech!

have you tried searching for "automated dispatch"?

There are 10+ pages of search results that pop up with various agencies starting to use this as their day-to-day. It doesn't really interest me that much, so I'm not going to peruse them...but there's a lot of various agencies apparently going this route.

To be clear - I'm asking about Carson City's system specifically, not auto dispatch in general. Just curious what system they're using for it, I'm overall pretty impartial to robot or manual.

I think he's referring to systems such as...

US Digital Design's Phoenix G2 Station Alerting System
West Net's First In
or Locution Systems

All three are prominent across the US. I believe Phoenix G2 is the most popular.

They have a synthesized text-to-speech voice that transmits over the air, and all have some form of IP-based paging that sets off some variation of lights, digitized text sign boards, and audio in the fire station. Their biggest selling point is efficiency in the comm center (especially for centers that answer 911/non emergency calls and work the radio simultaneously) and reduced stress when awakening the sleeping firefighters. Not sure if there's any real science that backs up the latter point.

They're really interesting systems, worth looking into if you're interested in it.

Also, if you have a time frame of when you heard the testing, that would be helpful for us to help identify which system it is. That way I can check the Broadcastify archives for the audio.

Thanks for the info! We've been hearing it since around 7pm this evening.

They will be P-25 soon think in about 2 months
They have their Fire Command VHF P25 channel that was added a while back. Do you think they're moving SO and FD to NSRS P25 soon?

The volume on the Broadcastify feed is very low... However, based on the voice alone, possibly Locution..? I've never heard that TTS before from any of the three manufacturers I mentioned before, so I cannot be sure...
