Hello,
The new system uses the same antennas and tower site as the old system. They are still located on Casper mountain.
The old system was not compatable with WyoLink, so it was upgraded to true APCO25 9600 baud. Because of this, they had to assign all new TGs so they would be compatable with WyoLink.
The new system has been on the air in a minimal capacity for several months with just chief officers doing testing. As of Wednesday last week, they made the transition for all users. With what I have gotten from research and what Wyowabbit submitted, the system is fairly well mapped out for scanner folks. I have gotten some good info off of a subscriber radio and I will submit it to RR in a few days.
Initial reports from the field are that there are a few bubbles and some range issues. I really don't know why there would be range issues due to the same antennas and such, but there seem to be. The benefit now is that users can switch to Wyolink and still get their message across from anywhere (almost). I am noticing much better audio on both my 996xt and the 197. I am fairly impressed.
Any more questions, just ask.
