Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I need help. I am taking a road trip in my mothers car and need a temporary station for my Cobra CB radio. Can someone help me with finding a place to install it in the car? Here is a picture of the interior:

Wow, not much room at all. It'll be tough fitting a full-sized radio. Something like a Cobra 75 WX ST might be a good alternative. All the electronic guts are built into the hand mic.

Why would you want to put a CB in a Mercedes? That's like putting ketchup on a fillet mignon! :D

If you are the only one in the car, just sit it on the passenger seat and use a mag mount (and put something under the mount so you won't scratch the paint).

If this was your car, then I would say install whatever you want in there (no matter how ridiculously out of place it would look); However, this is your mother's car so in my opinion you should NOT install it anywhere. If you are just going to be talking to other nearby vehicles, then buy yourself a handheld and power it from the cig lighter.

If you insist on using a mobile CB, then mount it to a piece of wood (to make a base for it) and simply sit the wooden base on the passenger seat. If you will have passengers in the car, then make an "L" shaped mount that sits on the floor and rests up against the passenger side of the center console (use carpet. felt, cardboard, etc. between the vertical piece and the console to keep it from scratching), then mount the radio to the vertical piece. This will allow you to use the radio as if it was mounted to the side of the center console, without damaging the console itself.

Happy Road-tripping :)
