Good afternoon, everyone!

In listening to the 4-channel Cass County 800 MHz. repeaters lately, I have noticed that the Cass County Sheriff's dispatcher is now being simulcast over Ch. 2 of the 800MHz. system (868.3000). I haven't heard any of the deputies on the 800MHz. system, however I would guess that this is not far from being implemented as more new radios are installed.

Of course, Plattsmouth PD is still operating on both 155.4900 and Ch. 1 of the 800 MHz. system (866.4000).

I have heard some non-encrypted P25 mobile-to-mobile traffic on Ch. 1, as well, though I would assume that the P25 traffic will be encrypted once more hardware and software is received.

SDOG - Can you update the "fans" here on the status of linking the 3 sites together?

Hi Geo, Et al.

I checked today, and the 900 digital link is up between the SO and KOTD site, and between the Murray site and the SO. Looks like it won't be much longer until they are ready to go.

The Platts. Police have been doing some direct comms. on P25 on 800- They apparently removed the low band radios from their cars, so no more 39.76 "CB" comms.

Hi George,

When you refer to the frequencies below as "Ch. 1" and "Ch. 2", is this a channel labeling that Cass County is using? Or is this something that is only based on the numerical ordering of the new frequencies? I am trying to get a grasp on how Cass County will be labeling these new frequencies in their radios.

Thanks,

Joe

Howdy, Joe and everyone!

The "Ch. 1" and "Ch. 2" designations are ones that I came up with, and are not official designations.

ObiJohn - do you have any information that would put official designations with the frequencies?

Perhaps SDOG could update us on that!

My assumption has always been that Plattsmouth PD would operate solely on 868.4000 (Ch. 1) and CCSO would operate on the other three (3) channels, for countywide coverage.

I've also heard some "car-to-car" type of traffic between CCSO deputies on the "Gretna" tower channel.

CCSO Update

Good evening, everyone.

Today's transition of Plattsmouth PD from 155.490 to 866.4000 also accompanied increased CCSO communication on 868.3000.

Unlike the other evening, tonight's comm featured both mobile/mobile and dispatcher/mobile communications.

Joe - a couple of the deputies tonight referred to 868.3000 as "800 Northeast", which may be exactly or similar to the official label they're going to use.

I also heard some sporadic mobile/mobile comm on the Gretna tower channel, but since the microwave link to the KPTM tower isn't up yet, this didn't include any mobile/dispatcher calls.

And, like the Plattsmouth PD channel, the CCSO channel had a high level of High Level Guard Tone on it, as well.

I'm pretty sure that the Quantar is programmed wrong. I'm sure there is a setting in the programming software to activate the 2175 Hz. notch filter. I'll bet 'ol Lloyd from Mobile Comm. will figure it out soon and turn the notch filter on.

I just checked, and the 900 link is up for the "West" tower (KPTM), although the dispatcher is unable to talk over it yet.

Joe: I can confirm at this time they are calling 868.300 "Northeast tower" and 868.6250 "West tower".

CCSO Update - Part 2

Good evening everyone!

John - thanks for the tower names.

This evening, I am hearing CCSO traffic on the "Murray" tower, both dispatcher/mobile and mobile/mobile traffic.

I haven't yet heard any traffic on the "West" tower tonight, but I just started listening around 2200.

I suspect that the "Murray" tower will be referred to as either the "South Tower" or the "Southeast Tower".

Isn't following the cutover of a system interesting?
