Have a SDS 200 and have MD First and all sites installed. I live in far NE Cecil and have yet (a few weeks) to hear anything on this system. I checked the allowed services etc. and still nothing even with an outside antenna.

So, should I be hearing something there in Cecil on the simulcast or others?

Thanks,
Rich

Yes you should. There is a Cecil subsite at the North East MSP barrack that privides coverage in the area. @tvengr should chime in to check your programming or offer an appropriate favorites list.

If the radio is stationary, all he needs is the Cecil Simulcast, and possibly the Cecilton and Conowingo ASRs. All other sites should be locked out.

Chiming in! Here is a hpe favorites list file for Cecil County on the FIRST system using the Simulcast site. It is on FL quick key 7. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Go to the Tools tab in Sentinel and set the Target Model to SDS200. Go to the File tab and Import from hpe file (Favorites List). Click on New Favorites List and name it Cecil Co MD Click on OK. In the Downloads folder, highlight and Open the extracted file. It will appear as a favorites list in Sentinel. In the profile editor, Download and Monitor must both be set to On for the favorites list.

I didn't know FIRST had an RF site at Fair Hill but that would make sense - probably part of the Cecil Simulcast.

Thanks for the help I did hear MD State Police this morning, tropo probably. After loading TVENGR's file just a bit ago I heard paramedics.

As for towers. Don't believe there in one in Fair Hill and I sure someone here knows exactly where it is, I believe it's in Earleville but listed as Cecilton and another at the State PD barracks in NE which as the RF flies about 12 miles from my location. Plus I live in the woods a lot of 700 MHz attenuation.

I deleted all sites but the ones within 25 or so miles. I got the SDS a few weeks ago and have not had a lot of time to play with it.

You have “all sites” enabled, as in every site on FIRST? Or all within ~25 miles of you?

One would need to test if there was a strong control channel signal in proximity to the old Cecil system sites to verify. The initial FIRST system maps do not show all of those sites (or Fair Hill,) but perhaps Cecil County paid for enhancements to utilize those resources - hard to verify because the simulcast cell uses the state license that doesn't enumerate transmit sites.

Yes, that is a FIRST site - I believe that it is a state-owned tower - I don't have my other PC with me atm to verity.

I made this map based off of small points on a map to the FCC for the State-allocated 700MHz freqs, and tried matching it up with state owned towers in the area of the points. I believe Cecil Simulcast to have 4 sub- sites.

Concur, with the *possible* addition of the DNR site at Rising Sun mentioned earlier.

Mountains of PA!
There are 5 Simulcast sites in Cecil and 1 ASR in Cecilton and the ASR at Conowingo (Harford) to help cover the west side of the County

The Cecilton ASR is smack in the middle of Cecilton southeast of the intersection of Bohemia Rd and Main St.
