Cellphone repeater

I'm sure the concept would work... But if it was me, I think I'd rather just hardwire my cell phone to an outdoor yagi.

I'll clue you in on something, a repeater can only repeat what it receives. Does that tell you something about antennas?

You're right.. If you're on the fringe of a cell tower, that thing isn't going to help you any at all. Whether you have a recieve amplilifer or not, you're still on the fringe.

Now, it WILL help you on transmit, because the amplifier will transmit a stronger signal TO the tower. But, when it comes time to recieve, you're going to be high and dry.

Not true. These devices are bidirectional, and provide gain in both directions.
