Does anyone know who the 9-1-1 provider for Cherokee County is? How are they dispatched?

Lifeguard Ambulance currently has the contract for EMS services in Cherokee County. All of Cherokee County is Conventional using the Frequencies in the Database unless something has changed very recently. A lot of calls are dual dispatched on the Fire Dispatch channel too.

I probably will. My son lives in Lancaster County, but if we aren't staying at his house we'll be staying in Fort Mills. That's whenever we get down there again. We're looking at possibly relocating down that because we heard you don't have enough retired Yankees. ;)

Anyway, my son mentioned Blacksburg, so I was curious about radio related stuff.

You're welcome. If you have any other questions let me know. I'm in the area, so I'm familiar with most of the traffic there.

Good area, Cherokee County property taxes are much lower than say York County or Spartanburg county and most of the neighboring areas in NC. Very low crime rate. They're building a big Indian Casino right across the SC/NC Border in Kings Mtn from Blacksburg. Their temporary casino is already drawing thousands. Northerners moving in has become very common lately. Our next door neighbors are from NY actually.

You're a short distance away from Gastonia/Charlotte, Greenville/Spartanburg and in your case Rock Hill/Fort Mill, etc. As far as radio traffic everything in Cherokee County is Conventional right now. In that area you would easily pick up SC Highway Patrol's Trunked system for Cherokee, Spartanburg and York Counties. NC Highway Patrol and the York County P25 system also come in really well.

Cherokee is just a bit far from where he lives for my to get it on my SDS100. OTOH, the last three trips down there were drives, so I had my SDS200 in the truck. I'll just have to remember to stop Avoiding it when I'm down there.

I have several different sites for Palmetto 800 programmed in. Of course Lancaster had to go and encrypt all of their LE traffic, but most of York is pretty clear.

OTOH, I do get good copy of Charlotte/Mecklenburg, so there is plenty to listen to.
