Per our new contract which has to be ratified by the City Council next month, Sept. 1st, 2014 will be the end of the BLS rigs. I don't know if they're going to renumber them yet to fall in line with the current numbering system.

Per a new Memorandum of Agreement signed 7-23-14, this will take place "no later" than Oct. 1, 2014. Manning is the reason...we do not have enough single-role paramedics to staff the 60 ALS ambulances now.

A friend of mine just got his FPM Academy start date of August 1. Yesterday. Nice notice. He cant even give his old department 2 weeks notice. Sounds like a quick 6 week academy and 2 weeks field training and released out to the wild is what he is hearing

Where are they going to fit an Ambo. in E13's house, that house is already overflowing

They'll move other non-essential equipment out, but they'll find room. Takes effect today.

A good idea would be to move Amb.75 (94) to E88, spread it out a little, any unit responding anywhere near E88 is making a long run

Makes sense, but my understanding is the alderman made a stink and since their's a high demand for ALS service in the neighborhood they kept it for now. However, that ambulance will be traveling anyway, so it will be used west.

Not sure why we are so against the BLS program, NY, LA & Philly seem to have done it successfully.

The EMS Hospital consortium has asked CFD to make some changes in the way this program runs and were met with resistance. Medicare and Medicaid have not been making payments because they deemed BLS runs to be "non-emergent" and CFD isn't receiving reimbursement from those that use it. To name a couple reasons...

Thanks for the updates. VERY interesting the last post on Medicare / Medicaid. Due to the new laws, insurance industry for health is undergoing changes. And the alderman getting involved....We're from the government and we're here to help you!
