CHP Statewide extenders are on 700Mhz. CHP Santa Rosa IS NOT on 700Mhz for dispatch traffic except through the extenders. Most everything is still on LOW BAND!

I still hear CHP Emerald base (Santa Rosa, CA) on 44.800 and 42.480 mobiles on low band.
They use 700MHz for the portables/extenders, so maybe that's what she was referring to.

There is a whole slew of 700mhz tactical and mutual aid statewide channels including the NIFOG stuff.
I hear all kinds of unknown stuff in that 700mhz public service block in simplex, and also some air to ground traffic in Socal.

I don't doubt that there is more to some CHP 700 codeplugs ,than extenders and base stations at area offices. How "custom" does CHP get , now they have these new multi-band radio decks?

What does the VHF-Hi code plug for a VHF area ,Like Santa Cruz Co. or Kings Co.? Do those programs include the local COUNTY mutual aid channels?

Remember...
CHP El Cajon area office is on the San Diego RCS system 800mhz T-2, and RCS has talk groups for the San Diego, Oceanside and Temecula area offices. I'm guessing those talk groups are active.

So what is really included in a CHP 700mhz fleetmap for say ...Southern Division, or Capitol Division?
Just how custom will CHP go for an area office or division wide custom Mutual aid codeplug outside the Lo-band stuff?

So I know that the CHP - Santa Rosa has switched to the 700/800 MHZ band. Was wondering if anyone knew what the freq was and TGID if any. Thanks!

There will be an eventual migration to using the CRIS system, with VHF Low as a backup/fill in. There's currently testing going on in some parts of the state, but I don't think any CHP area has migrated to it yet.

There's been various videos/articles on it, maybe that is what they heard.

As CHP moves 1 area to CRIS, each dispatch is expected to be encrypted. Sounds like CHP will encrypt @ the switchover to avoid re programming later for each area. Encryption came direct from CHP.

Sacramento area is 1st to migrate. Not the news we want as many spent hours decades enjoying listening to CHP. Hopefully CHP keeps the civilian CAD after switchover!?

RR has several threads about it.
CHP will not be encrypting dispatchers

RR has several threads on the CHP transition.

The system is what California has needed for years! CDF specifically will benefit with statewide command talkgroups.

In Riverside County CDF had planned move dispatch to the county system. With CRIS Riverside can move dispatch and or response to 700Mhz. Then rely on cellular when out of CRIS range. This could be utilized to keep in contact with home county dispatch when out of state. In AZ some fire agencies have added in add vehicle repeater for scene coverage.

From what information I have gotten so far this would seem to be correct.

I have been told different things from different people (pretty sure no one really knows what's going to happen except those directly involved at this point.) I have been told that they will have a "primary" and "secondary" talk group for each dispatch area with the primary talk group unencrypted and secondary talk group encrypted. I have also been told that the mobile units will be encrypted and dispatch will be unencrypted. I seem to be getting more evidence of the first scenario than the second.
