Have always had it in my scanner, but until a few weeks ago, never heard any traffic. Now while at CHP El Cajon area scenes, I am hearing these in active use, with no traffic on the Gold, just apparently extending the RCS radio.

A CHP buddy informed me the new EV20 systems in the new cars are programmed to "extend" whatever channel or trunked talkgroup is on the radio, so this explains why we are getting RCS extended. Apparently if the officer tuned in Lemon Grove Sheriffs talkgroup it would extend that, and confuse anyone who had their handhelds on the extender channel for some reason.

The San Diego Office is working off of the "alternate Orange extender" channel tonight for some reason, not sure if this is a switch or what-what.

Older CHP vehicles use the CPVE extender frequency (formerly listed as “primary” in the DB).

Newer CHP vehicles use the EV-20 extender frequency (formerly listed as “alternate” in the DB).
