We will soon be combining dispatch in Clark with SO and PD, both currently use MARCS and their own TG's, when they combine will there be new TG's or even new radio consoles brought in since it is moving to a new renovated building on the North end, from Sheriffs office and Station One fire upstairs. City dispatchers become County dispatchers so will we be having dispatchers familiar with radio codes and/ or locations etc. Dayton Mont Co did this a few years ago. Not being able to monitor Dayton what should we expect from this, good bad or the same. Finally nearly every dep't on fire is on marcs now so fire dispatches no more having to call Enon to get a call out. Just asking if many changes will be made or major changes, anybody know?? It has happened a lot in the State I am hoping I can get an idea a bit ahead of time.

Both the FD and SO are on MARCS now, the reason some people could not monitor Dayton they needed a P25 scanner. The old systems were the APCO 16 type with Motorola equipment.
When Montgomery County built the Regional Dispatch Center, City of Dayton hired them for services and closed thier dispatch, old systems were shut off after the transition period.
Should be no changes at the sites but operational changes could be made on how they use their Talkgroups.

Are they truly merging, or are the county and city dispatchers simply going to be sharing the same building?

If city dispatchers will still be dispatching city units and county dispatchers county units, you probably won't see a huge amount of change; if they're truly merging, ie all comm techs will be dispatching both city and county units, the biggest thing you're going to have to deal with is some people marching to the previous tune until they get used to the new policies and procedures.

You probably won't see any talkgroup changes, at least not right away; countywide radio reprogramming is time consuming and costly, so if it can be made to work using existing talkgroups (no reason it shouldn't) there won't be any changes.

City will be County Employees per newspaper and they are taking an old children's home building to make all dispatch under one roof. City was against it originally now they are on board, supposedly gonna happen January. The new tower they put up only a few months ago is about one to two miles away as the crow flies. Now listening to PD & fire they do things differently than SO and it sounds like some of the older city voices have left, taken the money and run!!and you know each agency has a different way of talking, but I don't think LOCUTION is coming!!!! TOM,,Your Fave!!
