By Coatesville City Fire Department March 25, 2011 On March 24TH 2011 At 22:00 hours The Coatesville Fire Department was alerted along with an Engine from the Modena Fire Company to 32 Palmer Ave for a reported house fire.
Engine 43-2, Ladder 43, Ambulance 41-2, Assistant 41 all made the response shortly after dispatched and were advised by the 911 center that the caller was reporting flames and smoke from a house. The Coatesville Police Department was the first to arrive and confirm a fully involved garage.
Assistant 41 (Paulukinas) arrived and requested the "Working Fire Dispatch" and assumed "Palmer Ave Command" the working fire dispatch added an Engine from the Thorndale Fire Company for "RIT" along with Medic 93 and full company from Modena along with Tac 34 for the air bank assist and Tower 45.
Ladder 43 arrived at 22:04 and their crew led off with an 1 3/4 handline and began fire suppression while Engine 43-2 established a water supply by laying a 5" supply line from a near by fire hydrant and connected into Ladder 43. Ambulance 41-2 arrived and setup rehab near the scene and handled 1 subject complaining of smoke inhalation which Ambulance 37-2 assumed care and transported the patient to a local hospital.
Chief 43 (Johnson) arrived and was advised by the command to handle the manpower pool in front of Engine 43-2. A second 1 3/4 handline was deployed by Engine 37-2's crew and taken to the rear to help with fire suppression.
Palmer Ave command placed the fire under control at 22:20 hours with all hands working. Crews stoodby until after the fire marshals conducted their investigation and then crews began overhauling for hot spots.
Palmer Ave command released the final units at 00:07 hours while also terminating the command.
