Coax and antenna

Can someone tell me what is the best scanner antenna there is to connect my new BCD996XT to?
How high should this be from the ground and what type of coax is best to use?

well i got this form radio shack Outdoor VHF-Hi/UHF Scanner Antenna - RadioShack.com

i have it mounted on a mic stand in my room and works great picks up freq. up to 50+miles away

also you will need PL-259 calbe with a BNC male to PL-259 female

More info on what frequencies you are listening to. Makes a difference on what the 'best' antenna for you would be.
