Where can I find an adapter to go from a female coaxial cable to a male BNC connection?

They have all sorts of adapters at RadioShack. What type of coax are you using?

Probably RG-58, it's a TV antenna, I just want to see what happens.

You maybe quite surprised. Several scanner antennas on the market are just TV antennas rotated 90 degrees. If possible you can rotate the elements and improve recepition. TV signals are horizon and land mobile are verital. Keep in mind that it will be directional. RS does carry a female F to BCN adapter. Also many Ebay resources. Seach BCN connector

If you use a TV antenna then do you need to use radio coax or will the TV coax work?

The TV coax will work. I did find, however, that all I could pick up were the TV audio signals. I couldn't pick up any other signals (police, aircraft, railroad). This is due to the design of the antenna.
