Combining Multiple Wave files software?

Anybody know where I can find a free software that will combine all the small wave files into one big file, then I can convert to a mp3 to put in my palm????

I have the butel software but it just organizes them in individial groups and each transmission is a file. I would like if it would record the entire TG or group in a single file but this option is not available.

The reason Butel's software and others break each transmission into a file is because if you don't do that, you'd end up with a 12 hour long mp3 file with only about 10-15 minutes of actually talking. Makes it tough to run through a file to find precisely what you might want, whereas by seeing the TG/exact time the call went out, you can get a better feel for things - no dead space wasting bits, etc. Even silence in an audio file requires space to store it.

Audacity can do this easily; load the first file then simply append new ones to the end, another one on the end, etc till you're done and have the complete file. Audacity can save as mp3 but you'll need to get the LAME mp3 .dll file as mentioned on the Audacity download page.

I use Sound Forge personally, have been for nearly 15 years now, but that's a commercial product whereas Audacity is open source and free. For what it is, and what it can do, Audacity is a great project and one of the best pieces of free software ever made.

I use Audacity almost daily at work. It makes after action reports go a lot faster.
