Anybody ever use the Comet 2x4SR for receiving? How did/does it perform?

It's a 40" dual-band whip. It works wonderfully on mobile simplex. I've two pals who purchased from my recommendation.
It will fold down by pulling up on the lower 2 inches. I did not add the optional spring.
We all have it mounted NMO on a large magnet base mounted center of the cab on metal p/u trucks.
It's a wide band antenna supposed to be good for FRS/GMRS...I don't scan other than ham freqs so can't help there.

Had one on my truck for ham radio and GMRS. Worked great until a tree branch ripped it off. Was just thinking about ordering another one this morning.

How does that affect SWR?
It replaces a portion of the antenna, so an adjustment of the antenna length is suggested. (A NanoVNA would make this easier.)
I had one of the pre-spring models mounted through the roof of a Jeep Cherokee XJ, and it worked well for me.
The spring should be used on a vehicle taller than a typical car, as impacts did cause some roof damage.
