Digital

Digital is already here!! Biddeford PD has been operating P25
digital for over a year now. I thing Lewiston and Auburn PD's
are also operating digital also.

I knew there were a few municipalities that had already upgraded. It's going to be interesting to see how the statewide transistion goes when it happens. Even though most of the infrastructure is old (according to the info on the state's site), I was impressed that Maine doesn't have a big interoperability problem. Almost every agency is on VHF and has the ability to use statewide PD and state fire. Down here in CT, forget about on-scene interagency communication.

Lewiston and Auburn are Apco-25 conventional monitored it during a delivery to Wal Mart in Lewiston

I agree digital is already here. You can't monitor MEMA anymore because they have gone digital. Well, no more listening to any state agencies once the system is fully implemented.

You will still be able to listen. You will just have to buy a digital scanner. Now, if they run encryption on everything, you're screwed! Damn encryption.....

MEMA is using DES encryption so we're screwed! If MEMA has begun using DES encryption, it will only be a matter of time before all the state agencies use encryption. :mad:
