anyone know of a site that compares scanners by brand and models, Iam rather confused as to what to buy, "more bang for the buck" Ive had some RS's that were junk and also Bearcats that were junk. I would think we have all ran thru that before. maybe some of you have an idea to go by.

Actually HH there's a better way to go. First check the database for Pa. and see what system(s) are in your area. You should know that the much talked about Open Sky statewide system that's being built in your state is totally unmonitorable (and without opening up a can of worms, way overblown, over budget and not fully installed...)
Look at the kind of systems in the area. If they are trunked, you need to look to see if any of them say 'APCO-25' anywhere in the database listing. If they are, for the most part - there are exceptions - these scanners would be necessary to listen to them. However, if they say nothing about APCO25(often abbreviated 'P25') then these might be an answer. Each of the linked articles have additional links to EHam reviews, MT and other links as well.
Let the kind of systems - and what you want to hear- drive your decision, not hearsay.
