Illegal to listen to doesn't mean impossible to listen to. And do they even sell 49 MHz phones anymore?

believe it or not they are still being used, couple weeks ago I was searching late at night & found 1 in this neighborhood, & could hear both sides of the conversation, handset & base sides, both frequencies!

I had one that finally stopped working about 2 years ago. It was the first cordless phone I ever owned. Now every phone in my house is cordless.

As pointed out in numerous previous threads, most of the phones under $80 or so still use 900 MHz for the base. Search 924 to 926 MHz and find loads of them. They will sound a little off frequency in narrow band fm. and appear to have negative modulation.

Any of them with Digital Spread Spectrum are not able to be received by scannersc

I heard that with some sort of "PCI card" you could listen to those-I didn't believe it, So I figured I would ask here.

"...(I) could hear both sides of the conversation, handset & base sides, both frequencies!"

You only need the base frequency, it repeats the hand held unit to provide side tone like any other telephone.

"they don't realize they can be herd it is not my fault."

Just don't tell them unless you want to find yourself in a fuzzy situation. (;->)

All my cordless phones are 4.5GHz spread spectrum. I'm not worried about the local kids with scanners listening anymore.

are they type accepted??? 4.5GHz is a Public Safetly Band here in the USA. it's going to be used by WiMax for wide area data applications by municipal authorities. sure you don't mean 2.4GHz? the Part 15 Bands are 900 MHz, 1.9 GHz, 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, and i beleive we are getting a secondary allocation around 3.5 GHz sometime in the near future.

Hmmm, guess i'm wrong there is an allocation there...

4.4-4.5 GHz

Intermittent Control Signals 12,500 µV/m@ 3 mA 15.231

Periodic Transmissions 5,000 µV/m@ 3 mA 15.231

Any 500 µV/m@ 3 mA 15.209

some how i don't see 500uV/M @ 3m on 4.5 GHz doing very well even in the same house.
