I was in the city's radio dealer shop recently and was told that they are moving to a new P25 Phase 2 system and were in progress of installing the new equipment. They said it would be on the same frequencies. I've seen no new database entries about this anywhere but there is less traffic on the EDACS system. Portland has moved to P25.
Anyone have more info?

See this post in an older thread.

There have been no talkgroups submitted, so far, for that system. If Corpus does move there, and re-uses their existing EDACS frequencies, then program another site as P25, using the current EDACS frequencies, and set it to use ID Search (Uniden scanners) or a wildcard (Whistler scanners).

I've been monitoring the system as P25 P1 and P2 separately in ID search on the current EDACS system in more than one site. So far I'm not getting anything not even DATA, so it's not online get, Well at least I don't think it is. When have you known this city to start something and finish it just look at the street work being done start 10 projects before you finish one. Why would this be different??

As far as I know they are still using all 15 frequencies listed in the database that's how I have mine programmed I do know they are using different talkgroups AFS14- I do believe it's a patch I only hear it early in the morning mostly. The new talk group.

Yes, they are jumping around while scanning in open/ search mode currently this morning Bravo and Charlie units on10-012,10-007 10-010,10-011,10-016 I also caught PD on a 06-*** talk group. Then they randomly go back to their regular talk groups. Not sure what's going on with the system

I believe what is being seen are patches. When running Unitrunker, I see "MS Ana" (multiselect) on the call switching between 02-021 (273) 02-022 (274) and 14-017 (1803). Not sure what Uniden radios show but Whistler's show TGRP Patch along with one of patched channels.

In reference to this post, the 700 mhz P25 system is still on the Sinton tower, and broadcasting the control signal.
The Violet 700 mhz P25 site came down last year with the fallen tower at Petronila. I have one SDR watching for the control signal to come back, but with the Portland P25 switchover, it doesn't look to be coming. I think I know someone who worked on installing the 700 mhz system back when, and information he has provided makes me think it was never really planned to go active.

One source tells me all new portables / mobiles bought are Harris P25 that are compatible with EDACS legacy system. When all new hardware is installed at sites, they will switch them over.

See this post in an older thread.

From what I've heard the new P25 system will be on the current frequencies which I'm scanning in Phase 1 and Phase 2 so far nothing, no data. They are taking their time probably waiting for the current EDACS system to just die I think.

Thanks for the info Sir.
