I have a 4-channel Regency crystal-controlled scanner that is in mint working order. I still like using it even though my shack has several Bearcat 780's, 895's, and an 890. My question is this....all the agencies in my area have switched from VHF-Lo to UHF and the local RS stores in my area can't get frequency crystals anymore.

Where can I get frequency crystals? I still enjoy using this vintage radio :D .

These 3 companies can supply you with what you want since they probably made the original crystals sold to those scanner MFg.

Keep in mind, we're talking $5 and up, and by the time you pay for 5 crystals or more + shipping, you'd be better of finding a decent programmable scanner someplace.

Good Luck.

Not a problem...like I said in my opening post I have a multitude of programmable scanners in my shack. That little Regency was my first ever scanner. I got it as an 18th birthday present from my parents. I like the fact that I still have it, that it's in mint condition, and that it still fully works. There are times when I just want to listen to my local town and the Regency fits the bill perfectly. If I can get the UHF crystals I need I'll be able to keep the radio in service. The cost of just 4 crystals won't really bother me. However, if I want to re-equip the rest of my crystal scanner collection, that could get expensive. I have 3-4 other crystal scanners, all scan at least 8 channels!

Thanks for the links, I really appreciate it :D !

I've always had good luck with Jan Crystal. Make sure that the frequencies you want are withen range of the scanner. Years ago, I had a Regency crystal scanner designed for 450-512 recieve. When I ordered 423 mhz xtals for it, they wouldn't work. It wasn't the crystals, it was the radio.
