A Colorado State Patrol chase early Monday in south Weld County resulted in the arrest of one man, and later in the morning, officers continued to search for the driver of the car.
According to CSP spokesman Trooper Ryan Sullivan, the chase began shortly after 9 a.m. when a trooper tried to stop a black Chevrolet pickup on Interstate 25 and Colo. 119.
The pickup sped away, taking the Colo. 119 exit toward Longmont. When the truck stopped for a few seconds, the passenger jumped out of the vehicle and ran, Trooper Sullivan said. The passenger was caught near the Del Taco Restaurant at the Colo. 119 exit.
The driver took off again, and entered a nearby subdivision. When they entered the residential area, the state troopers in pursuit backed off, because of the danger to residents in the area.
Late Monday morning, they were still looking for the black pickup and driver.
Trooper Sullivan said they didn't know why the driver took off to get away from the troopers, but the pickup was not reported stolen.
