It has been reported that during the CSP Re-banding that there has been testing on the Talkgroup 48432, is this the new MNRR PD Talkgroup?/

I hear their are 2 or 3 MTA talk groups but im yet to hear them.

That is interesting that there are going to be 2 or 3 MTA talk groups. I take it that one would be dispatch, one for tactical and then say interop or car to car. If they are going to have 3 talkgroups I guess that means that they are going to transition away from the 161.2200 MHz which currently is their primary channel and use the CSP TRS. Where did you hear that they are going to have 2 to 3 talkgroups??

From http://www.ct.gov/demhs/lib/demhs/communications/interop_comm_moving_fwd.pdf
Thanks to the New York Metropolitan area Transit Security Grant and Connecticut DOT Rail, a joint project by DEMHS and DPS is establishing a new interoperable voice communications pathway which will be deployed in municipalities along the Metro North Rail Line from Greenwich to New Haven.

The system will feature a new trunked talk group on the CSP Radio System, and new radio control stations using this talk group installed in all Public Safety Answering Points and Emergency Communications Centers on the rail line, connected to the Metro North Police Communications Center in New York. When complete, all users will be joined in a common network with direct immediate radio communications for incidents on the rail line. In addition to the new control stations all holders of ICALL/ITAC Portable Radios will be issued new portable radios programmed with the Transit Talk Group. These radios will replace the existing ICALL/ITAC radios in those communities which will be reissued to fill identified needs.

Right now, I have 3 unknown talkgroups that have popped up in Unitrunker.

38288 - for some reason, I think I recall this popping up with encrypted traffic. it's only showing 2 hits from back in April.

I mentioned this some months back that there was a big push to put radios of various types in service for the MTA PD to talk directly with State and Local agencies. Last week I installed an Orion control station on the NYSP EDACS system for GCT and for use at the Staten Island Transit hub. There is also talk of going digital and encrypted. It seems that the equipment is finally flowing. I also mentioned that MTA would be going on the Westchester Trunked System and was immediatly told no way. I guess time will tell.
One other thing, I suspect that unless the dispatchers actually turn up the volume on these radios they will stick with 161.220

38288 is one that has never been reported before, 32688 is one of the secure channels (it had been Ch 118) and has been active in the last couple week.

Any idea what 32880 is used for? It's another secure channel, but I haven't found it in any listings and it's quite active.

I wonder if it is the administration secure channel since we don't have a talkgroup for that in the database yet.

I just searched back through the forums and Chris (cg) had posted in the past that 32880 is the secure radio tech channel.

48432 is the Metro North transit channel, a friend of mine who works at a local PSAP said they got a control station for MNRR and it has that channel but it does not have the MTA Police channel as that will be diffrent.
He was told this channel is for train incidents for the PSAPs and field units to be able to talk. The new XTS2500s they handed out to the lower fairfield county towns for new I-Call radios have this talk group in them also

There is a some movement back and forth. MTA, et al operate all over the place (geographically, and in radio bands/systems).

There are still a few unidentified talkgroups on the system, and many that are seldom/rarely used. Several templates exist for radios on the CSP system (ie: secure radios, non-secure radios, control stations, command staff, states atty, DMV, etc). Most of the radios have all the talkgroups that it can hold in there, but with required common format/control.

You have to remember that the W4 ASTRO Spectra's and the XTS3000's can only hold 128 channels in the radio...that includes trunked and conventional channels TOTAL so some things are left out if really not required by the end user. With the newer radio channels coming online for interop purposes..there isn't a reason to have say...the DMV channel in a normal troopers radio.

The CSP system is slowly evolving to a total statewide/mutual aid/multi-state/multi-agency system. One does all. Expect to see increment changes over the next 5 years (ish) depending on funding.

Rumor has it that DOT is the next state agency to switch over within the next couple of years (again due to funding now).

Thats funny you said DMV in a troopers portable, The new rebanding puts DMV in the troopers portables allong with like 15 new channels. Tons of hand outs were given to the troopers with the new channels on them, I got to look at 1 for a few seconds a few things are no admin channels they are called COM 3 now
and some of the channel locations have changed, the casino channels went from channels in the 60s to the 70s and CSPERN is in the radio..Also a trooper told me they added 15-20 encryped channels to some radios

Many of those "new" encrypted channels are likely the low power simplex / repeater pairs with the addition of encryption.
I believe CSPERN was added in the last major reprogramming (Ch 53).

So basically 48432 is going to be used for the MTA police officers to communicate with local police departments and they will have a separate talkgroup for their dispatch and primary operations? Is every MTA officer going to be issued new radios?

There was some realignment and changes made to the talkgroups to make things more streamlined. DMV was in fact added as channel 53 to the last update.
